Renew Physical Therapy
This place is the absolute best! Very knowledgeable, attentive to every detail, and Michael and Heidi are so friendly and caring. Our treatments are one-on-one, hands-on, pain-free, and focused on the root cause of each patient's symptoms. Renew Physical Therapy, located in SE Portland, is an independent manual physical therapy clinic. Renew was established in December of 2015 by Michael and Heidi Cantwell, who met while working at a well-established outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic in 2002.

Michael was mentored by a reputable manual physical therapist from New Zealand, who had trained under renowned manual physical therapists around the world. We make it our personal goal to ensure that every patient who walks through our door has a positive experience.
Services
Acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain related to car accident or work-related injury; Headache; Numbness/Tingling; Weakness.
Accidents happen, even to the safest of drivers and most cautious of workers.
Auto-related accidents include single vehicle collisions, multiple vehicle collisions, rear-end impact, front-end impact, side impact, car versus pedestrian accidents, etc.
Work-related injuries include, but are not limited to, repetitive overuse pain, lifting/pushing/pulling injuries, falls, strains/sprains, automobile accidents, etc.
Any type of musculoskeletal pain or symptom that has been present for longer than 6 months (time frame definition varies based on source).
Our job is to detect any biomechanical and lifestyle contributing factors to persistent pain conditions with a thorough subjective interview and physical examination.
We continually re-assess each patient during his/her episode of care to ensure that the individualized treatment program is appropriately progressing toward a less painful and better quality of life.
The above-mentioned symptoms can be caused from a multitude of factors, ranging from a non-injury such as sitting too long during a road trip or at the computer to an injury such as an auto accident, fall, or awkward lift.
Oftentimes the cause is unknown to the client, non-physical such as emotional stress, or from gradual progressive onset.
The symptoms can be caused by any combination of inflammation, structural compromise/injury, structural positional faults, biomechanical restriction or dysfunction, or weakness.
Any type of musculoskeletal pain or symptom, including spinal symptoms involved in conditions recommended for surgery by surgical specialists or involved in conditions following surgical intervention.
All forms of physical injury and gradual-onset conditions leading to pain and/or other symptoms resistant to conservative non-surgical interventions that have been recommended for surgical intervention or have undergone operation and require post-operative rehabilitation.
In those cases involving people who are heading for surgery, our job in the "pre-habilitation" program is to optimize biomechanical function of the involved anatomical area prior to the operation, including optimization of joint mobility and muscular strength.
The entire staff are so in tune with listening to how I'm feeling.
In just a few sessions the pain in my back went from a 15 down to a 3! Thanks Heidi, Michael and Chris for following your passion to help people get back to wholeness!
After seeing other physical therapist I have to say Mike and his team are the best.
We work out at the same gym so he's able to help me modify my workouts for the best - and safest results.
Mike and his crew are excellent- very friendly and thorough.
It's great to have peace of mind knowing you are in good hands when you have an injury or pain that needs to be resolved.
