Through education, pain relief, awareness training, structural alignment, and ergonomic analysis, we can achieve miracles! I was scheduled for a knee replacement when I met Nicki. After two visits my range of motion was normalized and the pain was mostly eliminated, and I canceled my knee replacement. Services
Nicki has worked in a variety of PT positions prior to opening Body Mechanix in Portland.
She was born and raised in Missouri, where her pursuit of ballet and tennis fostered a love of movement and fascination with the human body.
She graduated with a Biology degree in 1998, and then succeeded in her dream of becoming a physical therapist.
It was during this training that she developed a deep appreciation for the body as a functioning whole; and learned how soft tissue (muscles, fascia, connective tissue), specific movement patterns, and an individual's alignment can create a cycle of chronic pain and dysfunction.
Structural Alignment Assessment: Posture in multiple positions, pelvic and shoulder girdle position, and weight bearing position.
Sports Physical Therapy: Flexibility, strength, balance, and endurance evaluation.
Individualized home or gym program, from rehab, to maintenance, to performance improvement.
Soft Tissue Techniques: Trigger point, deep tissue, myofascial release, scar massage, contract-relax, passive range of motion, reflexology, edema massage.
Biomechanics: Assessing movement in walking/running, cycling and during all forms of exercise including evaluation of yoga, pilates, tai chi, and cross fit.
I was scheduled for a knee replacement when I met Nicki.
After two visits my range of motion was normalized and the pain was mostly eliminated, and I canceled my knee replacement.
Nicki helped me through an extreme injury to my hamstring, which was fully torn.
Nicki helped me understand my options regarding surgery versus rehab, and what to expect in terms of performance.
I trusted her opinion over that of a surgeon, as she had a broader perspective which included whole body soft tissue evaluation.
