What is manual therapy?
Manual therapy is the foundation upon which minimizing pain and enhancing movement is built.
These techniques reduce muscle guarding and restore impaired range of motion associated with injury or movement dysfunction.
Our expertise lies in one-on-one care, including soft tissue and joint mobilization techniques for the spine and extremities.
These hands-on manual techniques restore joint and soft tissue biomechanics needed for progression toward exercise and daily activities.
Isokinetic exercises are resistance-based exercises that involve the use of special exercise equipment, which provides variable resistance to a movement and allows muscles to contract at constant speeds.
This ensures, that no matter how much effort is exerted, the exercise movements take place at a constant speed.
Isokinetic exercises are how we identify, treat and document physical impairments that cause functional limitations.
Isokinetic exercises test and improve muscular strength and endurance, especially after an injury.
Ultrasound gel is used on the surface of the head to reduce friction and improve the transmission of the ultrasonic waves.
The sound waves that pass through the skin cause a vibration of the local tissues, which can cause a local heating effect though usually no heat will be felt by the patient.
Ultrasound has been shown to cause increased tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown.
The increase in local blood flow can help reduce local swelling, chronic inflammation, and may promote bone fracture healing.
Taping Therapy, sometimes also known as EFT, uses the ancient principles of Chinese acupuncture to address your feelings (especially the negative feelings) about issues you experience on a regular basis.
For example: fears and phobias, sadness, anger, disappointment, frustration or nearly anything that interferes with your serenity.
Based on the use of meridian energy points on the face, body and hands, but without the acupuncture needles, taping therapy accesses the emotional "memories" in your body.
Bell's palsy is a paralysis or weakness of the muscles on one side of your face.
Damage to the facial nerve that controls muscles on one side of the face causes that side of your face to droop.
The nerve damage may also affect your sense of taste and how you make tears and saliva.
This condition comes on suddenly, often overnight, and usually gets better on its own within a few weeks.
Bell's palsy is not the result of a stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA).
While stroke and TIA can cause facial paralysis, there is no link between Bell's palsy and either of these conditions.
