In 2015, Embody PT was established with a hope of changing what people think when they hear "physical therapy." The goal was to build a practice solely focused on the patient as a whole. Where there are real exchanges with patients and ample time to assess the problems. It is our mission to redefine the industry and shed light on what physical therapy with manual/hands-on treatment is as well as how living pain-free does not have to be a dream.

Our unique hands-on, holistic approach achieves superior results with patients dealing with chronic pain or movement dysfunction, which perhaps has been unsuccessful in other PT clinics. Chronic mid or low back pain, hip/groin pain, FAI/labral tears, piriformis syndrome, SIJ dysfunction, herniated discs, stenosis.this is our expertise.

Evidence-based, modern treatment techniques such as joint mobilization/manipulation, dry needling, cupping, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization help us address unresolved pain.
Services
Embody PT is a specialty practice with a comprehensive approach to patient care.
We work closely with the individual to achieve goals and assist individuals with return to their highest level of performance.
We spend an hour, one-on-one, with you, the patient.
We know how important it is to track and follow progress as well as truly learn our patient; in turn, patients always have the same physical therapist for each visit.
We treat one patient per hour, without the use of aides or assistants, simply to allow us to make effective changes in real time.
Dr. Melissa M. Powers, a graduate of the University of Florida and Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, has a passion for helping patients live pain-free.
With a decade of experience, Melissa continues to be fascinated by the complexity of the musculoskeletal system and the challenge of treating various orthopedic conditions.
While completing her doctorate, she went on to finish out a year-long internship in manual therapy, receiving specialized training and mentorship in joint mobilization/manipulative treatment techniques for both spine and extremity.
Manual therapy is our expertise!
Evidence-based, modern treatment techniques such as joint mobilization/manipulation, dry needling, cupping, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization help us address unresolved pain.
Dry needling is a modern, science-based intervention, rooted in western medicine and musculoskeletal diagnoses.
The goal is to disrupt the "pain generator" or "neurological feedback loop" from the brain, allowing the body to reignite the healing process.
It is used in the treatment of such musculoskeletal conditions as: neck and back pain (stenosis), osteoarthritis, hip/buttock pain (piriformis syndrome), plantar fasciitis.
Often times, we are asked what truly defines a manual therapist.
We are trained, beyond what is simply taught in PT school, in effective joint mobilization and manipulation (including high velocity, low amplitude thrust) of spine and extremity as well as evidence-based treatment modalities, such as dry needling, cupping, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Muscle Energy Techniques, and functional mobilization with movement.
Using our extensive understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, we address chronic pain, joint/facet mobility restrictions, restore mobility to surrounding soft tissue as well as improve alignment and function.
What is dry needling (DN)?
Dry needling is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points (painful knots in the muscle) as well as tendons or near nerves in order to stimulate a healing response in painful musculoskeletal conditions.
We use the same kind of needle as an acupuncturist, however, we are not attempting to alter your energy or "flow of energy" along meridians.
We are trying to disrupt the "pain generator" or "neurological feedback loop" from the brain, allowing the body to reignite the healing process.
