ASTYM stands for "a stimulation" of the body's healing response, which results in the remodeling/resorption of scar tissue and the regeneration of degenerated tissue.
The approach is non-invasive and works fast and consistently without the use of medication, injections or surgery.
The ASTYM process is specific and has proven effective through documented, consistent, desirable outcomes.
Developed by a team of physicians, physical therapists, and scientists, this protocol-driven system delivers long-term results with short-term, fast-acting therapy.
Myofascial trigger point therapy, also known as trigger points, is described as hyperirritable spots in the fascia surrounding skeletal muscle.
They are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers.
They are a topic of ongoing controversy, as there is limited data to inform a scientific understanding of the phenomenon.
Accordingly, a formal acceptance of myofascial "knots" as an identifiable source of pain is more common among bodyworkers, physical therapists, and chiropractors, and osteopathic practitioners.
