Meg Kane Physical Therapy
Welcome to Meg Kane Physical Therapy and Counseling, where you will be treated with expertise and compassion. I am a privately owned practice with a mission to provide high quality therapy. I specialize in Hellerwork and movement reeducation, as well as stress reduction. When desired, I also combine working with the mind as an adjunct to support the physical work I do with the body.

I am a mental health counselor as well, and work with anxiety, trauma, attachment issues and chronic pain. Many of my clients come to me with pain that has been present for years. Working with myofasical releasing, posture, corrective movement and exercise can help alleviate the cause of persistent as well as more acute pain. I enjoy wearing two "hats" and find being having worked with the body helpful in my work with mental health, and working with the mind helpful in working with body, stress and posture.

As a physical therapist and Hellerworker, I treat a variety of physical problems including musculoskeletal problems and chronic pain.

Meg's primary expertise involves the diagnosis and treatment of movement impairment syndromes, injury prevention, and the promotion of health, wellness, and fitness.
By teaching awareness of body habits and movement patterns in everyday life and making subtle changes while standing, sitting, reaching, walking or other activities, I support you in creating ways of eliminating discomfort and enhancing your sense of physical well being.
I works in one hour appointments with a combination of manual therapy, movement, exercises to improve strength, flexibility and correct movement patterns, and posture re-education.
Pain is felt in the brain.
When we are stressed, nerves that carry the signal of pain become more easily facilitated; the brain picks up pain signals more easily and you experience more pain.
By becoming more aware of how we guard against pain, how our bodies react to stress, and how we shut down our breathing and movement, we can learn to decrease or eliminate pain.
Mindfulness, guided imagery, and relaxation techniques can be powerful tools to support the process of living with and decreasing chronic pain.
