Gaia Physical Therapy
Everyone has a story I love what I do as a physical therapist, but most people who hear that I'm a "pelvic physical therapist" are mystified. They want to know more. And I find that, when I talk to them about self-care, diminishing pain, retraining, and feeling better, almost everyone has a pelvic story. First, "Thank You" for coming to my website and article!

I know for you to get here you have been searching a very long time for some clear answers. This article is meant to give you more of just that! Have you ever tried to bring the subject up of your leaking bladder, incontinent bowel.
Services
Gaia Physical Therapy started out with seeing mostly pregnant women who suffered with the pregnancy related discomforts ( check out Pregnancy Tab for more details), and then has gradually expanded to include all conditions of pelvic floor dysfunction for MEN and WOMEN.
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is a problem for millions of people who suffer for years and do so in isolation.
Several body functions take place here at the "Pelvic Bowl" and when things aren't working they way they are suppose to, people have a hard time bringing up such sensitive topics.
My name is Michelle Conlin and I started Gaia Physical Therapy in 2011 to specialize with people who have pain and dysfunction with their pelvic floor muscles.
Some specific pelvic issues I can treat are Incontinence ( urine/fecal), Prolapse ( uterine, bladder), Pelvic Pain (vulvodynia, endometriosis, pelvic girdle), Pregnancy related Pain ( Sciatica, low back), and Male Pelvic Pain ( painful ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, scrotal or pain) to name a few.
I have taken many continuing education classes that revolve around pelvic floor dysfunction but I am also in the process of becoming a sex counselor.
Pregnancy related pain is commonly diagnosed as low back pain, pelvic girdle pain, pubis symphysis pain, rib pain, thoracic outlet or carpal tunnel syndrome, varicosities, or round ligament pain.
Umbrella group of common diagnosis such as pudendal nerve pain, vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis, levator ani syndrome to name just a few.
All of these questions regarding your symptoms can be addressed with physical therapy.
Benefits from the interventions are seen by most patients who follow through with the physical therapy treatment.
During pregnancy, the body handles an amazing feat with grace and strength.
Some women's bodies cruise through the experience and recover quickly and easily.
However, there are other women's bodies who rise bravely to the task of creating new life and perform well but may later cry for help to recuperate from musculoskeletal injuries incurred during pregnancy, labor and delivery.
This may be more true for older moms or moms with second or third pregnancies.
Without help, women may experience frequent worry about their bodies and may make undesired changes in lifestyle in attempt to deal with leaky bladder, or foot, back and pelvic pain.
I will usually spend at least 1- 1 hours with each client at the initial visit to get a precise history of how their problems came about as well as some objective details.
This is where we really do explore the private areas of your life.
Everyone who walks through the clinic doors can share, if they feel comfortable, their struggles with a bossy bladder, stubborn or painful bowel, and or painful sexual intercourse.
I go over the entire plan at the end of the first visit so each person can know what to expect from pelvic physical therapy.
