Choice City Physical Therapy
We help people of all ages get back to the activities they love. Have you been told from a prior health care practitioner that "there is nothing more we can do, " or "just rest and take these muscle relaxers, " or "your back is a wreck?" If these sound all too familiar, know that you have a choice and don't have to accept this as your future. If you want to maintain your independence or become more mobile and continue with the activities you love, we can help you achieve those goals.

I came to Dr. Sam Fischer after I tweaked my foot running a half marathon. Sam did several tests on my hips, legs, and feet, inspected my training shoes, and quickly determined that I had most likely strained a joint in my foot due to some funky movement in my hips (WAY better news than the stress fracture I thought I had). He gave me several stretches to work on to increase movement in my hips and my ankles.

After doing those stretches for a few weeks, I've been virtually pain-free. Besides being very knowledgeable, Sam was also very kind and easy to chat with.

He has seven plus years of professional experience in outpatient orthopedics, specifically focused on functional biomechanics, rehabilitation, and training.
He has also work in the home health care environment and facilitated the transition of care from home bound to outpatient.
Prior to completing his doctorate degree Sam obtained a Certification in Pedorthics and worked in a busy outpatient facility as a foot/ankle specialist providing orthotic fabrication and professional shoe fitting services.
Although there is static seated and standing balance, we tend to think of balance as a dynamic activity.
While maintaining balance statically is important, it is not as beneficial as movement based balance training.
Being able to take challenges, variable loads, and speeds and react to those demands is far more important for fall prevention.
Falls are one of the leading cause of injury related deaths in the United States, especially in the elderly population.
Gait and balance are closely related and effect each other on a daily basis.
Cycling injuries can either be traumatic from a crash (collar bone above) or from overuse injuries.
More often than not, overuse injuries are caused by poor bike fit.
We are happy to help you trouble shoot your bike fit, however visiting a professional bike fitter will make a world of a difference for your comfort on the bike.
Occasionally even with a proper bike fit there are still issues that arise.
Knee pain, hip pain, neck/back pain tend to be common.
These can stem from flexibility or foot posture issues and can often be easily addressed with proper evaluation and diagnosis.
Feet are amazingly complex parts of the body.
They play an integral role in all function once you are standing upright.
They are designed to become flexible to absorb impact when you hit the ground, yet also to become rigid to propel you forward with every step.
Toss variable surfaces and footwear into the mix and it is no surprise that eventually aches and pains appear.
There is a saying "when the foot hits the ground, everything changes" and it holds true.
Most functions of the foot/ankle and lower limb function very differently in a weight bearing environment (standing) vs non-weight bearing (laying on the table).
