With the help of family and friends, Jim Trakis founded and launched Fortius Physical Therapy ('Fortius' is from the Olympic motto, 'Altius, Citius, Fortius', translated 'higher, swifter, stronger') into the rehabilitative world in January of 2008 with the opening of our New York City office. In January of 2015, with a similar grassroots effort, Jim Trakis and staff opened a second office in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Since inception, it has been our mission to provide highly personalized care and to exceed our patients' expectations. Our treatment programs start with getting to know you first. We work to understand you, your goals, and the problems you're experiencing. From there, we apply the science of healing and a wealth of experience to generate best the rehabilitative plan of care for you.

When we created the vision for Fortius physical therapy, it was essential that we would provide care across rehabilitative, performance enhancement, and injury prevention fronts. Physical therapy services focus on orthopedic conditions across the lifespan with care provided in a personalized and friendly manner.
Services
Our physical therapists offer you a wealth of experiences, as well as personal experience just like yours.
Opened in January of 2008 by Jim Trakis and expanded in 2010, the New York City office is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan.
We offer personalized therapy in a friendly comfortable environment and make utilizing our services convenient for our patients by offering early morning, midday, and after work appointments.
Our office is extremely accessible via subway and bus.
The treating therapists are Evan Bracconeri, DPT and Amy Claypool, DPT both of whom keep the rehabilitative process efficient and positive.
Working with our physical therapy team means that you're in good hands.
On your first visit we'll do a complete physical evaluation, medical history evaluation and, most importantly, really listen to what's troubling you.
Whether you want to increase your sports performance or get rid of a pain that's been bugging you for months, we'll design a personalized treatment program.
We'll do whatever it takes to help get you back into action.
Jim Trakis, DPT and Evan Bracconeri, DPT have both completed extended clinical internships focusing on the application of manual therapy techniques.
Physical therapists are licensed healthcare professionals who handle a variety of movement, muscle and mobility issues.
Physical therapists focus on the way that the body moves.
They diagnose and treat problems using a variety of different treatment methods, including manual therapy and cryotherapy.
In physical therapy, the goal is to restore your strength, increase your mobility and get your body back to its proper function.
By combining a variety of techniques, we'll move you from your current state toward better health.
Our Midtown office offers Blood Flow Restriction Training onsite using the BStrong system.
Under the guidance of our trained therapists, BFR is a safe and effective exercise technique that reduces blood flow to the targeted muscle.
This produces rapid and significant gains in strength using minimal weights in a very short period of time.
Applied in a rehabilitation setting, we are able to exercise muscles at a higher intensity much sooner without risking irritation from overloading.
Our therapists are skilled at treating patients who have persistent, chronic pain.
We accept all insurances on the list found below.
As part of our intake process, we will call to get your specific physical therapy benefits and notify you at the time of your first appointment or before if you prefer.
If you do not have insurance, we offer affordable self pay rates.
We will also work with collegiate/school/club secondary insurances.
All other insurances including Aetna, GHI, Magnacare, and NYSHIP are accepted on an out-of-network basis.
Please give us a call and we can work with you to confirm pricing and minimize your out of pocket costs.
