Services
PTs are the primary providers for any orthopedic pain or injury.
We treat any body part and any problems with joints, muscles, or nerves that affect function of those in any age group from kids to older adults.
PT has shown to be an effective treatment for problems affecting human strength, endurance, power, mobility, balance, posture, motor control, neurological integrity, aerobic endurance, proprioception, and conditions involving pain and/or inflammation.
Some manual techniques include massage, trigger point and ART-style release, instrument assisted soft tissue massage, and joint mobilizations including thrust mobilization (known as manipulation) as needed.

YES- You should be scheduling a yearly check up with your PT!
If you have your own Primary Care Physician (PCP), you should also have your own Physical Therapist (PT).
While a PCP is a general practitioner who assesses and diagnoses health problems related to a variety of body systems, PTs are the primary care providers for orthopedic pain & injury.
At your yearly PT check up, each of these areas can be tested so you can know where you fall among your peers and also how you score from year to year.

Before surgery - To address joint motion loss, weak muscles, poor movement patterns, and pain which typically worsen leading up to the surgery.
After surgery - To rehab properly and have quicker return of function to meet your activity goals.
Think surgery is your only option?
Many conditions, if they are addressed early enough, never decline to the point that surgical intervention is necessary.
Your physical therapist will be able to tell you if you need PT or if a referral for other medical services is advisable.

Physical Therapists hold a doctorate-level degree in their field and are the musculoskeletal experts in health care.
Part of their expertise includes screening and recognizing when there are red flags in symptom presentation that warrant a referral to another healthcare professional.
There is a DIRECT ACCESS law which varies from state to state, but in PA, removes the requirement of a physician referral for access to physical therapists' services for evaluation and treatment.
