Orthopedic Physical Therapy deals with the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
The term musculoskeletal refers to the bones, muscles, and soft tissues that make up the human body.
Traumatic Injuries - These injuries usually occur due to a single incident or accident.
Examples would include a sprain/strain to one of the bodies many ligaments or muscles, or a fracture to one of our 206 bones.
Overuse Injuries - These injuries usually occur because of a repetitive stress.
For example, a repetitive gripping or reaching during the day may cause a tendonitis injury to the shoulder, elbow, or hand.
What is IASTM?
Hereford Physical Therapy utilizes the Hawk Grip tools for IASTM on our patients.
The treatment is non-invasive and uses uniquely designed stainless steel instruments to break down scar tissue and increase tissue mobilization.
Similar to a how a comb brushes out knots in the hair, the instruments are used to smooth out soft tissue abnormalities, improving range of motion and decreasing pain.
Our Physical Therapist will assess your condition, evaluating strength and range of motion in order to determine the appropriate treatment protocol for you.
In our continued efforts keep everyone Active, Mobile and Healthy we embrace the wellness model as part of a continued effort to prevent injury and promote maintenance of overall health.
While the formal medical model physical therapy is necessary when there is an injury, the wellness model centers on prevention of injury and trying to optimize overall health in your body to avoid illness in the first place.
Our yoga and flexibility and balance programs are staffed by highly qualified Physical Therapists, Athletic trainers and exercise specialist.

Hereford Physical Therapy's Sports Medicine Team is now offering Functional Movement Screenings (FMS) to all of our student athletes and patients.
Our primary goal as Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers is to prevent or minimize injuries.
The FMS is a great tool to identify kinetic movement patterns that may predispose an athlete to injury.
What is Our Functional Movement Screening Program?
FMS is the screening tool used to identify limitations or asymmetries in seven functional movement patterns assigning a score dependent on how well the movements are completed.
