Any amount of pain can be a nuisance in your life, especially when it lasts a while.
Everyone deals with pain differently, and there are many options available to treat it.
Narcotics and pain medications are one common option, but the best possible option for most painful orthopedic conditions is a good Physical Therapy Doctor.
Many patients are often looking for the "magic bullet" to immediately fix their back or joint pain.
Pain medications can often give them the most immediate short-term relieve, but they do not solve the problem and can have many long-term negative effects.
As a courtesy, we will verify your health benefits prior to your initial evaluation with us to determine if you have a financial responsibility.
We recommend that you contact your insurance company, before starting your treatment with us, to make sure that you fully understand your physical therapy benefits.
Please obtain a referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) or a Specialist, if required by your insurance plan.
Florida is a "Direct Access State".
This means you are allowed to go directly to a Physical Therapist without a physician's referral and receive treatment for 30 days.
Back pain is the most common problem treated at Physical Therapy Doctors of Florida and one of the most common problems in America, afflicting millions each year.
Studies have even shown that at one point or another 80% of the US population will be affected by back pain.
The vast majority of back pain is caused by muscle imbalances in the core and lower extremities, weakness of core musculature, and poor movement patterns developed over time - usually in order to compensate for a prior problem.
Neck pain is a common problem that is usually caused by muscle imbalances and joint misalignment stemming from poor posture, especially with prolonged sitting.
Neck pain can also lead to headaches or to radiating arm pain that can reach anywhere from your upper trapezius (next to your neck) all the way down to your fingertips.
It is not unusual for neck issues to present as sharp or shooting arm pain or numbness and tingling in the arms or hands.
The most common traumatic reason for neck pain is whiplash from motor vehicle accidents or hard falls.
The shoulder is a very complicated joint that moves in many directions and this can lead to frequent injury and pain.
The rotator cuff is an area that often becomes inflamed or injured through poor posture, muscle imbalances and forceful injuries such as falls or over reaching.
The expert physical therapists at Physical Therapy Doctors of Florida are specialists at treating shoulder pain.
