Specialized Physical Therapy
At Specialized Physical Therapy, we treat a number of different types of pain through Myofascial Release, a technique that relieves tension and pain by releasing and lengthening both muscles and the "fascia, " or elastic web of connective tissue that ties your body together. Many of our patients liken our sort of therapy to massage; while it's different from massage, the experience is similar.

Our clinic is a soothing oasis where we treat each patient as an individual and work with them to ease pain, increase mobility and enjoy life again. We treat TMJ dysfunction, headaches/migraine and neck pain that result from dental challenges. We treat sexual dysfunction, prenatal/postpartum, post-op breast health, pudendal neuralgia, incontinence, endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction.

Want to learn more about myofascial release? This video will help you understand how tightness and tension in the fascial system can produce pain, create problems with range of motion, and hinder the proper functioning of your body.
Services
As the first practice of its kind in the state of Mississippi and several surrounding states, we have been fortunate enough to implement exclusive myofascial release and manual therapy protocols that have been refined since our practice began 35 years ago.
The moment you step into our inviting clinic, you will realize that we are not your typical physical therapy practice.
Our relaxing, spa-like environment sets the stage for a one-on-one evaluation by one of our licensed physical therapists so we can tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
The fascial system serves as a protective layer surrounding your muscles, bones, blood vessels, nerves, and organs.
It eases motion by helping each part of your musculoskeletal system slide smoothly, and it enables these systems to communicate with each other.
Damage to your fascial system can cause a wide variety of symptoms, and these are frequently misdiagnosed or attributed to other causes.
Many chronic pain patients may actually be suffering from distorted or adhesed fascia.
Fascia can become distorted, can tighten up and become rigid, or can form adhesions (buildup similar to scar tissue), all of which can cause chronic pain, reduced range of motion, and a wide variety of other symptoms.
Muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissues are intimately involved structures within the body.
Part of a surgeon's challenge is to repair the structures in need without injuring nearby tissue.
Even the best surgeons cannot prevent post-surgical adhesions and scars from forming as a natural part of post-surgical healing.
They may be thought of as internal scar tissue that connects tissues not normally connected.
Adhesions are tiny crosslinks that rush in to begin the repair process after trauma, which creates scars that last a lifetime.
We've put together some answers to questions that we hear frequently from patients when they are first coming to visit one of our clinics, including a little information about why we're different, how we work with your physician, how you should dress for the visit, and what, generally, to expect.
How is Specialized Physical Therapy different than other physical therapy and massage therapy practices?
The therapists at Specialized Physical Therapy approach healing from a whole-body perspective.
We are not just interested in helping the client alleviate pain, but also in finding the underlying cause of the pain.
