Do I need a Prescription to start physical therapy?
In Pennsylvania, patients can go to physical therapy for one month without a prescription from a MD / DO / PC / CRNP / PA-C / DPM if a physical therapist has a "Direct Access" license.
However, certain insurances such as Medicare, will not pay for physical therapy without a valid prescription.
Can I chose which facility I receive physical therapy at?
You can receive physical therapy at the facility of your choosing, even if the prescription is written for another facility.
