Services
I was diagnosed in early July with a condition called Spondylosis.
The symptoms were sever pain in the left leg.
I started Physical Therapy with Mary Curtis McCracken.
I continued PT three times a week through August and by that time the leg pain was gone and I was back to 100%.
Very happy with the results ad very pleased with Mary Curtis' knowledge and ability to select the correct PT procedures or my condition.
I can't say enough good things about this group!
The PTs here helped me rehab my shoulder after rotator cuff surgery and I ended up with pretty much full mobility in the end.
Lymphedema is a condition caused by extra fluid build-up in your tissues when your lymphatic system isn't working correctly.
This usually happens when your lymph nodes are damaged or removed, however there are various reasons a person may be diagnosed with this condition.
Physical therapists who are certified in lymphedema therapy can assist patients with reducing and managing edema.
Brittany Rickert is our Certified Lymphedema Specialist.
In 2017, Brittany became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) after receiving her course training through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies.
Patients with vestibular disorders often experience problems with vertigo, dizziness, visual disturbance, and/or imbalance.
Vestibular rehabilitation (VR), or vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) is a specialized form of therapy intended to alleviate primary and secondary problems caused by vestibular disorders.
It is an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, and/or imbalance and falls.
Brittany Rickert, DPT, and Robyn Duncan, DPT, are our providers in this area and are located in the Sylva and Bryson City clinics.
We are proud to offer custom foot orthotic evaluation as a service at Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy.
Ben Rickert, PT, has several years of experience with performing orthotic evaluations in addition to working with a company to create a custom fit for the patient.
The one-hour evaluation process involves detailed and comprehensive analysis of the biomechanics of the feet using precise measurements and video gait analysis.
Clinical findings are utilized to design a pair of one-of-a-kind orthotics specific to each individual.
Smoky Mountain Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy offers an evidence-based biomechanical running analysis.
Performed by our physical therapists who are gait analysis specialists, our evaluation pinpoints where your running gait might be breaking down, resulting in pain or inefficiency.
The evaluation consists of a physical examination and high-speed video analysis.
Through the evaluation, you will gain a better understanding of faulty running mechanics and solutions for becoming a healthier, stronger, and faster runner.
