At Physical Therapy Associates of Schenectady, we understand that physical injuries and orthopedic disorders can make life miserable for athletes and seniors alike. With over 30 years of experience in rehabilitation and recovery, our professional therapists are committed to providing you with the highest level of care.

For years now, we have counted on Tom and his staff at the Physical Therapy Associates to keep our Olympic Judo hopefuls in one piece. Their local operation is as good as any one in the biz. I highly recommend them for all levels of issues. My experience at PT Associates of Schenectady has been a life saver. I always felt much better after treatment and the recommended exercises always work.

The staff at the front desk is wonderful to work with and is always very accommodating and very friendly. Best PT I have ever had.
Services
Physical Therapy Associates of Schenectady was established in 1982 by Thomas M. Cooney, DPT and Thomas Houghtalen, DPT MTC, to better meet the needs of patients and clients who could receive outpatient physical therapy services.
The first office opened at 1533 Union Street in Schenectady, NY.
Convenient office hours, flexible scheduling, and easy access coupled with specialized treatment, highly educated staff, and the latest technology were the founding principles of Physical Therapy Associates.
Here at Physical Therapy Associates, we are dedicated to making the local communities better.
We are involved in several community organizations such as Business Professionals Organizations and Local Rotary groups.
Staff members from our Scotia, Schenectady, and Rotterdam offices spent the day with various church organizations boxing up Thanksgiving Dinner boxes for those in need.
This event was a collaborative effort by many local churches to serve their respective communities.
Thank you to Kris Kerber, Kathy Hamilton, and Kevin McLaughlin for going that extra mile to help others enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.
Physical Therapy Associates and Bekshire Physical Therapy and Wellness believe that through education, we can help our communities be safer, more active, and ultimately more healthy.
Joseph Battiste, PT spoke to the Ballston Spa Rotary on Fall Prevention for the older adult.
His presentation emphasized the many contributing factors that lead to falls and those who are at risk.
Specific exercises that help to reduce the risk of falls were reviewed including those that improve strength, balance, and flexibility.
Our staff of physical therapists are highly skilled and experienced practitioners who maintain advanced education and training in physical therapy as well as in speciality areas in order to provide you with the highlest level of care.
Each therapist completes on average 20+ contact hours of continuing education credits per year in order to update manual therapy skills, evidence based treatment practices, and certifications to serve all your needs.
Ergonomics can be simply defined as improving the "fit" between the worker, the work environment and the work being performed.
Identifying injury risks in the workplace related to design, operations, worker anthropometry, work habits, environment, workflow or other related factors is the first step to reducing the costly musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) prevalent in today's workplaces.
Employers strive to maintain a safe, healthy and productive workforce.
The health ergonomic services we provide at Physical Therapy Associates of Schenectady and Berkshire Physical Therapy and Wellness can assist your business to optimize worker productivity and comfort while minimizing the potential risk factors that lead to musculoskeletal injury.
