Join with us on a journey, a path that will recapture the vitality lost when a traumatic injury occurs. This is a journey like no other you may have traveled. Medical professionals will provide a label to your pain or condition and describe what damage has occurred. The true recovery, however, will depend on many other factors such as muscle tissue and skeletal structure that may be unrelated to the injury.
First lets introduce the fascial system and the influence this tissue has on posture, movement, strength, flexibility and painful symptoms. The first leg of our treatment triad is education. Understanding how the body and musculoskeletal system functions. Rehabilitation is the second leg of our triad. We will work together as a team releasing fascial restrictions, changing posture and alignment that contribute to pain and tightness.
Alignment when unbalanced robs us of our flexibility, strength and movement. Prevention is the third leg of our triad. It represents the action taken to minimize the risk of future injuries by positive methods that influence our lifestyle and activities.

Welcome to my practice, a close, comfortable clinical setting where clients engage with me one to one.
In 1990, I founded Athletic Advantage Physical Therapy, a private practice in orthopaedic manual therapy and myofascial release services.
I graduated from Heidelberg University in 1983 and The Ohio State University in 1986.
In 2011, Mark completed a weeklong study alongside John F. Barnes, PT, world-renowned therapist, visionary, and authority on the Myofascial Release Approach.
Taking me into his highly charged and intriguing world of authentic healing, I refined my own skills and learned new and innovative ways of treating the myofascial system.

Foot biomechanics add an interesting dimension to structural symmetry and leg length.
People experience leg length changes not because it is a "normal" condition as many are lead to believe.
Leg length changes may be caused by hip dysplasia or fractures of the femur when the growth plate is open.
But most commonly, leg length change occurs when lifting improperly in conjunction with poor posture creating extreme stress on the S-I joint and the myofascial system.
This can be the same area that contributes to sciatica.

Here we focus on manual therapy techniques to improve your mobility to promote relaxation, decrease pain, improve flexibility, strengthen tissue, and improve movement patterns.
Muscle Energy Technique, or MET, is an osteopathic procedure developed and used by the osteopathic physician as a remedy for musculoskeletal conditions.
The MET procedure is a manual therapy technique that isolates and engages weak muscular links to reposition the bony segment that is responsible for muscular spasm, inflammation, pain and weakness.

From a young age we are provided with proper and adequate mobility and flexibility, but as we age, suffer injuries and limit movement we lose the full range of motion which often compromises strength.
By improving your flexibility and mobility it will allow you to restore that motion that you once had.
Once restored we strengthen any muscle necessary that is limiting you from completing your goals.
