Pelvic physical therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy. Evaluation is followed by treatment of the soft tissue, fascia, and bony structures of the pelvis and related areas including the abdomen, hips, back and sacroiliac joints. Pelvic physical therapy will address weakness and tension of the pelvic floor muscles which can contribute to symptoms such as incontinence of urine or stool, urinary urgency or frequency, pelvic organ prolapse or pain with intercourse.

Tracy has dreamed of owning her own clinic since receiving her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Findlay.
She has been working in various positions in physical therapy for over 22 years.
Her career first began with a strong emphasis in orthopedic and sports physical therapy but evolved into women's health in 2003.
After a few years of experience, she expanded women's health treatment to include the treatment of men.
Tracy has really found her niche in this specialized market having practiced in Valparaiso for over 13 years.
Bed wetting, withholding constipation, encopresis, vesicoureteral reflux and giggle incontinence are all examples of pediatric conditions that require unique treatments from a pelvic rehabilitation specialist who is specifically trained in treating children.
Children are not just "little adults" and are not effectively cared for as such.
A pediatric pelvic rehab practitioner will provide comprehensive care that takes into account the effects of growth and development, milestones, neurological conditions, orthopedic considerations, behavior challenges and physiological differences that are unique to children and adolescents.

The muscles, tendons and ligaments are made to absorb the ground reaction forces, the bones are not.
If the bones continue to absorb forces, there will be an injury when the load exceeds the ability to absorb.
The important message here is that they must fit well and be comfortable to you.

After performing a functional movement exam, your therapist will have a good idea if you need more mobility, more strength, more flexibility, a change in run form, or some combination of those things mentioned.
