To encourage the healing process through awareness and involvement in spiritual, social, educational, and health-related services in rural Jamaica. I certainly felt like my patient at least really began to improve and enjoy himself only after he understood that we actually cared about him as a person, what he wanted from life, and his success as a whole being.
It was great coming to the camp and learning more about physical therapy, but what I will always remember most is my patient. My patient was one that did not use many words but that made our bond stronger and I learned so much from him. He taught me patience, strength, compassion. I could go on and on but no words can really express the gratitude that I have for having the opportunity to work with and get to know him.
Stroke camp was the experience of a lifetime and I am forever grateful to be part of the FORU family. I saw how beautiful humans could be to one another. Background, socioeconomic status and culture doesn't matter, but instead love and compassion for others is the most important thing to have.

Services
Dr. Brooke Riley, PT, DPT, first visited Jamaica in 2004, during a six-week internship with Dr. Karen Sawyer, PT, DPT, an assistant PT professor at Arcadia University.
For several years Dr. Sawyer had been doing pro-bono physical therapy in rural Jamaica and giving physical therapy students the invaluable experience of being immersed in a culture entirely different from their own.
Beth has been a vital part of our team since 2013.
Aside from treating patients, she serves as our Volunteer Coordinator and is the Assistant Director of the clinic.

Since 2004, Dr. Brooke Riley, PT, DPT, has continued the legacy of her mentors, Dr. Karen Sawyer, PT, DPT, and Dr. Michelle Brown, MPT, DPT, by providing physical therapy services to those who are unable to afford private care in rural Jamaica.
Dr. Sawyer and Dr. Brown still to play a vital role by making annual visits to Jamaica to help in the clinic and serving on FOR U's board.
Working alongside Dr. Riley is Dr. Bethany Wolf, PT, DPT.
The FOR U team treats patients at a local health clinic run by the Catholic Diocese five days per week.

Drayer Physical Therapy Institute of Hershey, PA, has been the primary benefactor for our physical therapy services in rural Jamaica since 2008.
Through their dedication to missions, Drayer continues to provide financial support for our physical therapists and also supplies FOR U with volunteers to assist with our programs.
In 2010, Anthony Reagle, a Drayer employee, volunteered for three months at our physical therapy clinic.
Many thanks to Luke Drayer, Craig Bouslough, and the Drayer team.
Without your generous support we would not be able to continue our physical therapy services in rural Jamaica.
