Come learn about what lymphedema is, who is at risk, how it can be prevented, and how it is managed through therapy! Anyone who has had lymph nodes removed can be at risk. Please help us show support for this diagnosis as well as the women/men in our community who face the challenges of lymphedema everyday. In 2001 Jennifer (Whaley) Shepherd, PT, CLT-LANA created a physical therapy center that catered to women.
PT For Women provides general physical therapy care, but also specializes in unique health issues such as pelvic dysfunction, cancer rehab and lyphedema prevention/management. Together with the help of her associates the practice has continued to grow and expand its services to women throughout the region. Men experiencing Lymphedema, urinary/bowel incontinence, or pelvic pain can now receive optimal physical therapy care in a private setting with dedicated male treatment rooms and gym area.
We provide customized treatment that centers around state-of-the-art, hands-on techniques and tailor-made exercise programs delivered by highly trained, compassionate physical therapists in a comfortable atmosphere.

Millions of people suffer from bladder/bowel control problems, yet it is, understandably, still a very sensitive subject.
Women suffer from this condition more often than men, as a result of childbirth, menopause and female urinary structure.
However many men also suffer from these issues as a result of prostate dysfunctions, surgical procedures, or male urinary structure.
Too many men and women wait years before seeking medical treatment due to embarrassment.
Yet incontinence is treatable and often curable, without either surgery or drugs.

Unfortunately, many women devote so much time, energy and courage to simply getting through breast cancer surgery that they often neglect their recovery plan.
A proper recovery plan requires attention to psychological, mental, and physical healing.
If women are able to regain control of their physical recovery, it will indirectly affect the other components in the recovery plan.
In addition to lymphedema, various other physical problems may arise after breast cancer surgery.
These problems will vary depending upon the woman, the specific type of surgery and the reconstruction efforts.

To help make your pregnancy as pleasant as possible and facilitate an easier delivery, pain should always be addressed as quickly as possible and managed throughout your pregnancy.
