Physical health and fitness have long been a passion for Robert Berkley PT, DPT. After serving in the military repairing machinary, Robert decided to pair his love of exercise with his desire to fix things that are broken. He received a B.S. in physical therapy from Daemen College and went to work as a physical therapist for Oswego Health where he was quickly promoted to clinical manager.
Patients suffering from a vestibular -inner ear- disorder will experience symptoms such as dizziness or vertigo and problems with balance. Kinesio Taping is a taping technique in which the tape is strategically applied over the patient's muscle(s). Lymphedema (lymphatic obstruction) occurs when lymph vessels become blocked causing a build-up of lymph fluid.
ASTYM is a physical therapy treatment that is used to aid the body's natural healing process in two ways. Mulligan Mobilization can be better explained once traditional joint mobilization is understood. Spinal manipulation, also known as spinal adjustment, is a therapeutic manipulation of the spine used for treating pain and discomfort in the back or neck.

The knee is one of the strongest and most important joints in the body.
The knee joint is vital for individuals to participate in daily activities, such as walking, running, sitting and standing.
The knee joint consists of 3 bones; the femur (thigh bone), the patella (knee cap) and the tibia (lower leg bone).
These bones all work together with the assistance of the surrounding muscles, like the quadriceps and hamstrings, to allow for the knee to bend and straighten, or flex and extend.
Located inside of the knee joint are cartilage (medical and lateral meniscus) and ligaments (ACL and PCL) that provide the joint with cushioning and stability.

The shoulder is made up of 2 bones: the humerus and scapula, but has the clavicle in the area assisting as a muscle attachment site and helps with motion.
The ball and socket configuration of the shoulder makes this a very unstable joint that needs support from the surrounding muscles, such as the rotator cuff to provide both mobility and stability to the joint.
Due to the instability of the joint, issues like improper body mechanics, poor posture, repetitive activities and malalignment of the joint can lead to common injuries, like rotator cuff syndrome, tendinitis, bursitis, muscle tears and bone spurs.

The job of a physical therapist is not only to rehabilitate your ACL but, to get you back to your specific activity as quickly and safely as possible.
If you injure your ACL during sport activity or normal activities of daily living our doctor specific protocols are designed to get you back to activities fast.
Knowing that the knee is one of the strongest and most important joints of the body our carefully instructed protocols consist of PRE-HABILITATION to carefully guide you before surgery and prevent further injury.

Kinesio Taping is a taping technique in which the tape is strategically applied over the patient's muscle(s).
Unlike traditional sports' taping, where the tape is wrapped around a joint to provide stabilization and support, Kinesio Taping promotes relaxation of overused muscles, relief from pain, and a decrease in inflammation while maintaining the patient's range of motion.
While traditional taping constricts and inhibits the flow of bodily fluids to the effected area, Kinesio Taping aids in healing by stimulating the nervous and circulatory systems.
